The brief was to choose a site of our choice - any place we were interested in - and create a catalogue of it. Hundreds of pages should be filled with whatever space we would choose. I decided to chose the kitchen in my flat - for one reason. I wanted to challenge myself.
The kitchen is one of the most mundane places humans spend their time in. We eat there, we cook, we socialize. Why would this space be extra-ordinary interesting? That's what I questioned and so I started the project. Challenge: Can you create a beautiful book out of a kitchen mess, created by 8 art students? Can you find beauty in the most mundane things and communicate your findings to the viewer?
The result was a 300 pages catalog, full of images and visuals and impressions and conversations that I collected over the course of one month.
